After critically acclaimed 'Iqbal', Nagesh Kuknoor delivers again with 'Dor' starring Gul Panag and Ayesha Takia in lead roles. The story revolves around their lives, which get intertwined with a stroke of destiny.Gul as Zeenat is an independent; married young woman in a small town of Himachal Pradesh while Ayesha as Mira is a docile bride in a conservative Jodhpur household. Now as luck would have it, around the same time their husbands leave for Dubai for better prospects. Months pass on as they wait patiently for their husbands to return. But soon this wait takes another turn with a phone call, which informs that Zeenat’s husband has killed Mira's husband. Zeenat can rescue her husband's life only if she is able to get Mira's signature on a paper that declares she forgives him. Zeenat comes to Rajasthan and finds a friend in a behrupiya - an impersonator. They find Mira and befriend her who is leading a spartan existence. Zeenat asks Mira to lead her life according to her wishes and be responsible for it rather than adhering to the whims and fancies of the society. Gradually Mira starts taking the reins of her life in her hands without realizing that soon she will be at a juncture where her decision can either take the life of her husband's killer or provide him with a new lease of life.

The script is taut and the actors are natural. Both the lead protagonists have done justice to their job while the supporting actors have also left no stone unturned to make the each scene of the film meaningful whether it is Girish Karnad who plays the role of a frustrated and manipulative father- in- law of Meera or the lively Shreyas Talpade whose antics as an impersonator will definitely bring a smile on your face. The music by Salim-Suleiman is soulful. The song ‘Ye Haunsla’ touches you deep down and encourages you to fight against all odds of life no matter what.Full credit should be given to the cinematographer who has captured beautifully the refreshing greens of Himachal Pradesh and the vibrant rustic spirit of Rajasthan. The theme and the treatment of the film might not attract masses but those who prefer a meaningful cinema would definitely lap it up. It is a story of emotions, handled sensitively and delivered effectively. Overall a neatly packaged movie and a perfect weekend watch with the entire family
