Wanna see….. How a tank serves as a taxi or how journalists work their ways to collect the news. Then Kabul Express can be a good experience for you. First movie shot after 9/11 in Afghanistan. The movie is based on the condition of Afghanistani as well as the Pakistani people in war-ridden country. Movie has been shot in original location of Afghanistan without any artificial locations. Kabul Express was in news as soon as the shooting of this film started, because of its subject. The story is about three journalists, two from India, Suhail khan (John Abraham), Jai (Arshad Warsi) and one from America, an Afgan and a Pakistani on a journey in post war Afghanistan. The movie can be termed as a good experiment with a subject that was not easy to work on. The director has also handled the language barrier well in the movie between the different characters. But Kaabul Express also gets derailed at many points especially in the entertainment factor where it does not score well. There are sequences where the movie gets monotonous. With the journey of the journalists' stretched too far, having no songs and eye-catching sets adds to the tedium of the movie. The movie is shot in the dead desert of Afghanistan and the movie lacks a basic story line. The movie is based more on the Talib, who is from Pakistan and is desperate to cross the border and move into his own country.

It seems that director Kabir Khan could not completely get over his documentary mode. The movie looks like a blend of a commercial movie and a documentary. One has to praise the director for his guts to make a movie without any songs. It's been a flop formula in Bollywood to make a movie without songs in the past and this one seems another flick that may not be able to woo mass audiences. Arshad Warsi has again given a very good performance, playing the role of a cameraman he was again at his hilarious best. John Abraham on the other hand lacked in his acting abilities and gave an average performance. Salman Shahid, playing a Talib gave a ripper of a performance and was the best of all the actors. Hanif Humghum and Linda Arsenio have also looked natural in their performances. The movie carrying Yash Raj Banner is expected to get a good opening but the film is unlikely to strike the big-league category unlike the other Yash Raj banner films. The background music of the movie is good and goes well with the story and location of the movie. The movie also fails to produce an emotional touch in the audiences. The emotional scenes in the movie have not been able to bind the viewers. It would have been better if the story should have given more focus to depict the state of the people in Afghanistan, which would have been more interesting for the viewers. It lacks the basic ‘masala' stuff in it, which the Indian masses like to see in a movie. Especially after Dhoom-2 movie buffs expected another action packed flick. The movie projected some mercy to the Talibans and showed the life of a Talib post 9/11. The entire movie does not come up with the expectations of the audiences. The subject of the movie and a big banner support can be the only reason for the movie to be a big hit.
