As has been norm that sequels have been dud when compared with its first in the series --- the very first thought is - Is the sequel to 'Munnabhai M.B.B.S.' good? - Honestly, it is VERY GOOD. The story is absolutely different with the same characters. Producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Director Rajkumar Hirani's script has turned out to be a brilliant sequel. They have subtly named a bungalow "Second Innings" and shown the positive side of M.K.Gandhi's philosophy of speaking the truth (which all religions preach).
Well, in the first go there was Munna Bhai's (Sanjay Dutt) 'Jaddu ki Jhappi' (tender wholesome hug); here we have 'Gandhigiri' (embracing and following M.K.Gandhi's philosophy).Confused, how does Mumbai's film world and Gandhism click in Hindi cinema's box-office masala formula? Go and watch 'Lage Raho Munna Bhai'

'Munna Bhai' is in love with a vivacious radio jockey, 'Jahnvi' (Vidya Balan) and when she announces that she will hold a quiz on Mahatma Gandhi, our hero along with his buddy 'Circuit' (Arshad Warsi) ensures that he wins the contest and introduces himself to 'Jahnvi' as a History Professor Murli Prasad Sharma. Now, here he doesn't enroll or start a college but goes to Gandhi Sanghralaya and learns all about Mahatma Gandhi and also finds 'Gandhi' (Dilip Prabhavalkar Rajkumar Hirani subtly joins the physical with the metaphysical world to give the Gandhian touch to the story. Sardar 'Lucky Singh' (Boman Irani) is a corrupt builder and 'Simran' (Dia Mirza) is his daughter and the story/plot revolves around her marriage to another builder 'Khurana's' (Kulbushan Kharbbanda) son (played by ….) |

And to ensure that your kids do not fall into (the idea of doing of doing a Krrish, by) hallucinating like Munna Bhai - Hirani has a scene where a doctor publicly says that after reading and engrossing himself in Gandhism, Munna Bhai is hallucinating that he can feel the presence of M.K.Gandhi being with. The film has also shown a few wrongs in our society and Gandhism has been used brilliantly to deal with these wrongs. It has sent a very subtle message to the people in government and power - that instead of building Mahatma Gandhi's statues and adoring their office walls with his photos; they should imbibe his values in their heart. To the GenNext - 2nd Oct besides being a public holiday and a dry day - to follow Gandhi's path, it requires COURAGE
Music of the story is not the main attraction. Cinematography takes over music. But don't worry it is still worth watching and is a brilliant family entertainer……one would look forward for the next sequel (may be 'Bane Raho Munna Bhai')
