Vikram Bhat’s another love thriller Red-the dark side was released with sizzling, steamy promos accompanied by Himesh’s rocking music but it completely fails to sustain audiences even on the second day of its release. All because of a weak and conventional story line with unrealistic acting performances by actors. No doubt Vikram Bhatt once again came with an excellent and stylish cinematography with cool shots on thrilling music by Himesh Reshamiya, the only cherish able part of this film.

Neel Oberoi (Aftab) is a billionaire who needs a heart to survive, which he gets through a heart transplant of a person who died in an accident. Anahita (Celina Jaitely) is the window of the same person and she is alone after the death of her husband. After getting life back, Neel is keen to know about the donor. In the same row, he meets with Anahita and falls in love with her. Director has tried hard to make this story full of suspense but fails miserably as the story is quite predictable from the very start. Anahita tells Neel that her husband did not die in an accident. But he was killed by her best friend Rocky (Amin Hazmee) because Anahita’s husband had an affair with her other friend Ria (Amrita Arora). That’s the whole plot of this film, which has been repeated many times in Hindi films.

The movie is a complete disappointment as a thriller. It has completely missed out on the action, as action scenes are not very impressive. Movie was supposed to thrill you but it begins to bore you as you can predict the story from the very beginning. The film is made in a stylish way, which is new to Indian cinema. The only relaxing factor is that it is not very long, which makes the film tolerable to an extent. Aftab’s acting is average but Celina and Amrita once again showed that acting is not their cup of tea. They are more like decorative pieces in the whole plot. The only bright star in the movie is Sushant Singh. He is good in the role of ACP. After all one thing, which can be said about the film and its title, it’s very contextual. Title just warns you to maintain your distance from the nearby theatre screening Red- the dark side.
