Sarhad Paar-The new dawn Sarhaad paar-The New Dawn is probably a film that should have been made at least five years back. With a script that is outdated and banal and performance that we are sick of watching time and again in the past, it’s no exception that Sarhad Paar is a disaster. The director, Raman Kumar has tried all ‘tried and tested’ tricks in the book to touch the audience with his loaded patriotism and emotions, but alas! He failed miserably. It seems that the film has been made by a compilation of bits and pieces from previous such films. There is absolutely nothing in the film that is afresh and new. It is the same old story said in the same old way. So no doubt this was the reason why people chose to stay away from the theatres as it was almost empty, leaving me along with a few to scratch their hairs.
Sarhad Paar-The new dawn The film starts with an Indian soldier called Ranjit Singh crossing over to Pakistan after a shootout at the borders in Jalandher. He gets caught by the militants and tortured so much so that, he loses his memory completely. The only thing he remembers is ‘Baktavar’, the militant head and the main antagonist of the film. After he is released, he comes back to India and what follows next is an attempt by his wife Pummee and sister Simran to bring back his memory. The attempt involved prolonged story telling, which eventually ate up the first half of the film.
Sarhad Paar-The new dawn Moreover, it was loaded with emotions like tying ‘Rakhi’by Simran to Ranjit who no more remembers her and the wife depicting their tale of love to her husband. Emotions, which would have made moms and aunties of the bygone days cry buckets. Anyways, when nothing worked their way, Simran decides to take her brother Ranjit to the ‘dargah’ where he happens to notice ‘Baktavar’ and all of a sudden he remembers everything. He runs after ‘Baktavar’ but fails to catch him. Why? Well, here is a twist. Don’t miss it if you eventually get enough motivation to watch the film. The second half is all about the heroics of Ranjit singh who goes on a full stretch to catch ‘Baktavar’.

The film is punctuated by unnecessary and unmelodic songs that do nothing more than making it all the more bulky and if that was not enough there is an item number also to keep the boredom alive. Moreover, there are certain scenes, which lack clarity. In a scene Ranjit Singh is shot at his legs but interestingly in the next scene he is walking normally as if nothing happened. There is also a hijack angle in the end, which is not answered. Also the film ends abruptly. The movie has all the stars (Although most of them are wasted) who could have made it a good film but if the script is so back dated there is nothing much that they can do and so their performance is also not spectacular. The film at no point grips the attention of the audience, so in my opinion it is a complete waste of money. So keep away from it as far as possible.
