New Delhi: Since its inception in 1999, Bridal Asia has enthralled many minds - of women and men equally. It has showcased, under the lights of well-known designers, the dreams of soon-to-be brides and grooms. With its appealing and seductive collections, it has also made many feel the urge to get married all over again just to be in the exotic Indian wear. The day one of Bridal Asia took off in the capital on Saturday with the collection from designers Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Honey Waqar (from Pakistan), Rina Dhaka and Malini Ramani. Bridal Asia was witnessing its Tenth edition in the nation's capital and on the whole, the twelfth edition since its inception.
Held in The Grand hotel in Vasant Kunj, New Delhi, the first day of Bridal Asia 2007 saw coming together of designers, models and various socialites like Tanisha Mohan, Neeva Jain, and Manpreet Brar. With the heedfully chosen songs by the designers playing in the background, models walked down the ramp carrying their bridal collection in elegance.
Divya Gurwara, CEO of Bridal Asia, while talking to Headlines India said, "This time Bridal Asia is different. It is younger in its approach. Distinct colours have been showcased by the designers. Malini sports a fitted look in her designs, Sabya brings out the vibrant colour patterns in his collection while Honey has been all about royal look. The aura, the mixture has been quite interesting."

Sabyasachi was the first one to showcase his collection on day one of the show. His designs are inspired from the historic and royal Mughal bridal wear and are distinct from the usual bridal couture. "It is all about colours and textiles in Indian wear. When it comes to traditional Indian clothes, we can portray real royalty in them," Sabyasachi said. While taking about contemporary Indian women, he remarked, "I think today's Indian women is slightly freaking lost. She should regain her originality. If she cannot go for the designer clothings, it doesn't make a difference. She can go to outlets like Fabindia - they are equally good."
Bridal Asia's first day fashion show ended when the night was still young and guests moved on to enjoy the sumptuous dinner.
