What is the theme of your album 'Tohfa'? |
| Anwar: Tohfa is a romantic album and features 8 romantic songs. The emphasis is on melody and to stress romance as the base. First I thought of coming out with a regular audio CD but then I decided to put forth my compilation in a video CD. Visuals appeal to people more and that is the reason I decided to come out with a video album. The album features top models from Mumbai. |
|
How did the idea of coming up with this album cropped in your mind? |
| Anwar: When I was in the US I used to do a lot of live performances. People liked my voice and advised me to come up with a new album. So I decided to come back to India and bring out my own album. That's how it all started. I have created this album with sincerity and diligence. The rest is upon the audience whether they like it or not.

Any favourites you have from your new album? |
| Anwar: Although all of the songs in the album are very dear to me, I like two of the songs very much. "Tere Hothon Ko Salaam" and "Shaqia Jaam Bhar De" are the songs whose lyrics always touch my heart.

People assume that the life of a person linked with the entertainment industry is very glamorous and very comfortable. What is your take on that? |
| Anwar: It is true that we enjoy our work a lot. It is quite fun working in the entertainment industry but it is also right that it involves a lot of hard work. So the notion of all fun is not entirely correct.
|
Some people say that your voice is very similar to that of Mohammad Rafi. How do you react to that? |
| Anwar: I have heard this a lot. I would say that I don't try to imitate Rafi ji but it comes automatically to me. If people find any similarity then I think it is just natural. |
What has the response to your new album been like so far? |
| Anwar: It is too early to talk about it. |
What kind of music do you personally like? |
| Anwar: I love light classical. It has an altogether different feel and touch. |
What are your future plans? |
| Anwar: Well, I would like to get into film production soon. I am thinking of producing a combination of thriller, murder mystery and musical. It should be something like Baazigar.
|
And who would be the actors? Someone famous or newcomers? |
| Anwar: I would like to work with newcomers because it would be a new experience for me and I don't want to be under any pressure. |
