| Delhii Heights is Anand Kumar's take on the lives of a group living in a posh building named Delhii Heights. The story promises to be different and modern in its aspect when you start watching the movie but slowly the predictability of dialogues and scenes start building bitter taste in your mind. As far as the much-publicized background of the Delhi in the movie is concerned, it is hardly there. The Director has tried to pay his tribute to Delhi by giving an introduction and a song by Rabbi Shergill, that's all. Otherwise, the name of the building keeps flashing after every ten minutes to remind you that it is a movie about Delhi residents. Actually the entire movie is about 'Delhii Heights' and not about our sweet old city.

The story of the movie revolves around a high-rise building 'Delhii Heights'. The lead story is of Abi (Jimmy Shergill) and Suhana (Neha Dhupia). Abi and Suhana is a married couple working in rival advertising agencies. They are very committed to each other and they hope to overcome their professional problems with a better understanding and love for each other. But the life is not so straight as it looks. Soon their professional life starts creating problems in their personal life. How they overcome these problems is easy to guess. The second story is about Bobby (Rohit Roy) and his wife Siama (Simon Singh). Bobby is a compulsive flirt and Siama is the ever-suffering wife who knows that her husband is a cheater. But when finally she decides to leave him an incident forces her to stay back. The Third story is about good hearted and jolly Punjabi Timmy Singh (Om Puri), there are two more sub stories in the movie, which make the movie appear more chaotic. Perhaps director wanted to create some comedy and masala in the movie. You soon get to realize that despite the attractive promos and the much-publicised 'uniqueness of the story' it is a movie made in a typical Bollywood masala style. The director could not dare to be different in the treatment. Another bad aspect of the story is the use of same cliché dialogues. They are written in a bad manner, which reminds you about several other movies. In the effort to tell stories he has lost 'the story'.

| Jimmy Shergill and Neha Dhupia have acted well enough and they fit very well in the character of a modern working couple. If only they would have had a proper script and some good dialogues they could have delivered better. Simon Singh is another delight to watch in the movie. She fits so well in her character of a wife whose husband is a flirt. Rohit Roy sometimes gets overboard with his acting otherwise he is okay. Om Puri has very few scenes for his credit but needless to say that he delights you every time he appears on the screen. His witty one-liners are absolutely witty. Other characters are a complete waste and they clutter the narrative.

As far as the music of the movie is concerned, 'Tere Bin' is the best song of the movie. One good thing that Rubby has done is that he has provided English meaning of the song in case you do not understand the Punjabi words. It is a beautiful song and you remember it when everything else about the movie is forgotten. A song on Holi is quite detestable. Director probably added it to cash on the Holi festival at the time of music release. Other songs need no mention, as they are not worth it. Climax of the movie is pathetically executed and it is the most predictable part of the movie. Director seems to be in a hurry to pack up and end the story with 'they happily lived ever after' note. The movie can be a time pass but there is no guarantee that you will enjoy it. |
