Just married could have been a worth watching piece, if Meghna Gulzar had maintained a balance between realism and willing suspension of disbelief. The storyline, which tries to justify the institution marriage in Indian paradigm; has however culminated into quandary.
Abhay (Fardeen Khan) an urban marketing brat working for MNCs, ties his knot with Ritika, a MA in Sociology working in a BPO. Subsequently, they leave for Ooty to unfold the post-marriage pandemonium. Ritika bewilders in perplexity in the process finding the uniting thread between post-marital biology and philosophy. However, Abhay, a master in this field endeavours his level best to generate a conducive atmosphere for Ritika. But then a squabble crops up, which patches up in the climax. Meanwhile, in the Ooty motel they meet and interact with as many as 4 different couples. Vikram Saluja and Perizad Zorabian maintain extra marital relationship. Mukul Dev and Sadia are childhood friends; married later. Satish Kaushik and Kiron Kher (both charming) were in Ooty to celebrate their 40th marriage anniversary. Raj Zutshi portrays an NRI with a fake American ascent and he has a living relationship. |

Nevertheless, Meghna Gulzar deserves eulogy for her effort in depicting various nuances of human relationship. But, vindication of the institution of marriage and that too through eloquent Kiron Kher (when she teaches the young couples, the importance of marriage generating a sense of introspection all of a sudden) is an old wine in the same old bottle.
Meghna has used golden yellowish light in the background thorough out the movie (like in Parineeta). Perhaps she has attempted to bring about a sense of reality. However, this kind of treatment is found only for depicting melancholia or otherwise in historical movies. In addition, there was immense scope to explore the scenic beauty of Ooty. |

Esha was upto her expectation in delivering an innocuous character for whom sex still is a taboo. Fardeen was disgusting with same set expression no matter be it comedy, emotion, tragedy, shock or erotic. Miles and miles to go before he signs a new assignment.
Climax was more ridiculous with Abhay, a marketing head playing with law of physics. On their return from honeymoon, the bus sponsored by Go Air airlines (the cameramen was surly paid by Go Air; in every shot of the bus, its not the characters of the movie but Go Air logo flashing in the screen) gets stuck in edge by the hillside. And suddenly Abhay realises that a miniscule imbalance of weight can topple the bus living everyone death. At that crucial juncture of life and death, Abhay and Ritika discover their love for each other. Hindi Cinema is all about sweet coincidences with miraculous escape from inevitable death situation.

| Although there is no suhaag raat sequence with the groom lifting the ghoonghat, mumbling something incredibly romantic, equating her face to the moon, her eyes to the stars, and then groom reaching for bedside lamp, plunging the room into darkness; finally bride waking up next morning with smudged sindoor, it is not advisable to watch the movie. |
