I think movie lovers dreadfully need a break from the same old scripts. Every time we go to watch a Bollywood flick, most of the times it's either a copy of a Hollywood blockbuster or based on same old Bollywood story. 'Khanna and Iyer' is another of the similar kinds, where a Punjabi boy (Sarvar Ahuja) falls in love with the South Indian girl (Aditi Sharma) and as usual caste differences, culture in their marriage becomes an issue. So, they decide to run away from their house and are chased by their angry parents. Although the young director Hemant Hegde has tried his best and has given a new angle to the movie by including some funny scenes between the parents of the couple. As the parents chase their son and daughter there are some funny scenes in the movie. A clash of Punjabi and South India culture makes the movie a bit interesting but this period is there for a very short span.

There is a clear reflection of an inexperienced young director. He does not prove to be very good as he fails to give that unique touch of clash between various Indian cultures and he ends up showing the same old Bollywood love story. Although the first half of the movie is a bit engrossing but the second half keeps the audiences gasping to wait for the movie to end. The second half of the movie looses its plot completely and runs away from its track. It seems that the director fails to sustain and make a full three-hour entertainer. The movie was made under the big banner of Mukta Tele films but with its low budget and almost unknown star-cast, it seems that Khanna and Iyer will be another low-key affair. |

The music of the movie is an average, rather it is a bit dull and none of the songs would fall into a category of a hit. The performance by the newcomers is quite good. Music Director Tabun Sutrdhar has failed to give some chartbusters in his music. Both the Sarvar Ahuja and Aditi Sharma in the role of a love couple were quite impressive in their performances. Every actor in the movie seemed to do justice to his/her role. But it is some inexperienced direction and low budget that has fetched bad results at the box-office. Even though the movie was made under the big banner it did not received the publicity it should have got and hence the opening of the movie is again on the lower side and it would be wrong to expect 'Khanna and Iyer' to do some magic at the box office. All in all one can say that this one is definitely not in the category of 'Must Watch'. Khanna and Iyer is a lifeless comedy, which instead of entertaining becomes a three-hour liability. It is not worth your precious money. |
