Kya Love story Hai…? You get into the movie hall with this specific question in your mind but the most pathetic thing is that this question keeps haunting you till you walk out of the theatre. It is very tough on the part of the viewers to decide what could be the basic subject and the motive of the director Lovely Singh to make a film like this. Lovely picks up a repeated theme of a triangular love story that is seen in every second or third Bollywood film. His treatment with the theme is even more repeated and is utterly boring. The best part of the film is the guest appearance of Kareena Kapoor, who has delivered a sizzling performance in a song, 'It's rocking...'. Rest of the film has hit the roofs in being a basket of unsuccessful comedy and unemotional drama. Thanks to the weak direction and screenplay, inadequately supported by perhaps the most intolerable acting performance of the year till now.
A film like this is in no way going to help the cause of a struggling actor, let alone giving a boost. One can only wonder why Tushar Kapoor chose to act in a film like this. Even otherwise the actor is not an accomplished one. He should better be doing films like Khakhee to at least keep his name alive in Bollywood. Not a single actor in the film suits the character. Tushar's performance is pitiable; Aeysha Takia's is a complete trash while Karan Hukku's tried to pity the audience and performed a little better. Also he can ask for another chance from a good director at least for his physique. But otherwise all the characters were running in different directions, and it was getting really hard for the audiences to catch them.
With the poor performance in forefront, the script and screenplay could not have been expected to be bright and flawless. No doubt, debutant director Lovely Singh has failed in all the directorial tests in the film. His actors are awful, direction lacks the basics of it, connecting scripts is illogical, so the natural result is a bundle of saridon (medicine for headache)-experience. However, Lovely Singh somehow got to manage beautiful locations for the film, along with some above average music by Pritam. But just this much is not at all enough to keep the spectators intact.Songs, good or bad, look like as if they are stitched to the screenplay and are not a part of it. Dialogues, comedy scenes and jokes can only make you sit tight-lipped and even if they do try to open your lips, you would prefer shouting than laughing. But, a song like ‘Aashiq hai dil mera’ and Alisha Chenoy's ‘It’s rocking’ are good and give some respite from continuous torture. In short, the film 'Kya Love Story Hai' is not a film to recommend neither for watching nor for making. But such films somehow keep coming and a movie analyst has no other option but to watch the movie till the end...just to warn his readers and keep them away from such disasters.
