Five friends get drunk on their graduation day and end up in jail. It is a defining moment for them as realities of life are still far away and they have beautiful dreams and definitions about life. They set a unique bet to meet after five years and find out the happiest among them. Well, the idea of the movie is more or less inspired by O Henry's 'After 20 years' and for the first time director Vikram Bhatt has not picked up the tried and tested formula of thrillers, which is a great comfort for the viewers. Who can forget his last dud 'Red'? The latest trend in Bollywood is to make movies with different stories. 'Life Mein Kabhie Kabhiee' is a bouquet of five stories. But the credit must go to Vikram Bhatt for the narration, which is almost perfect. The director does not lose the thread of stories, as every episode is well connected and clear in its message. |

'Life Mein Kabhie Kabhiee' is a story of five friends who try to get an answer of the most astounding and puzzling question of life's happiness. These friends are Manish (Aftab Shidasani), Rajeev (Dino Morea), Jai (Sameer Dattani), Monica (Nauheed Cyrusi),Ishita (Anjori). Manish is a jolly fellow and believes to flow with the life. Ishita thinks that money is the key to happiness and Monica wants to become famous. Jai thinks power is everything to make one happy and Rajeev wants to become the best business tycoon, as that is his recipe of happiness. These friends are to meet after five years to decide the happiest person. They are totally unaware of the harsh realities of life. And ultimately they achieve their goals. But are they really happy after that? Or are the sacrifices worth the reward? This is the theme of the movie. |

The problem with the movie is that it gets exceedingly preachy after a certain time and the boredom starts dripping in. It is true that best things in life come with a usually high price but is it always necessary to sell your soul to get on to the top? Well, all the lead characters cheat without an ounce of remorse- a rising politician must kill someone to rise in his career and the newcomer actress must go through casting couch. And the bright businessman must cheat and bribe to get on top. The awakening comes very late. On the acting front Aftab (Manish) is refreshing with his comic gestures and he is a great relief in the serious narration. Anjori as Ishita is a surprise in the movie as she has acted well in the role of a clever woman who is ready to do anything to get what she wants. Sameer Dattani in the role of an ambitious but troubled politician is a delight to watch. Others also fit well in the narration. But sadly Nikita Anand is hardly visible as she gets very few scenes and a most forgettable song in the movie. Dino Morea is so-so with same certain fixed facial expressions. Nauhid in the role of Monica has improved from her previous movies. Koel Puri in role of Aftab's wife has acted well but more or less she is filler in the main narration. Shiney Ahuja in the role of a trusting and loving boyfriend is not very appealing in the end with the sad and believing look on his face. |

| There is nothing much to talk about the music of the movie as there are hardly any memorable song. But if you love a little philosophy then 'Kyon Khushi ki….' might appeal you. It is clear that the music is not the USP of the movie. The movie poses a serious question but the answer is not very satisfying in the end. The art of living gets boring after some time. You start wondering that what is new in all the stories after all. After the first half the story appears to be more of a classroom where we are told to learn a lesson on the philosophy and life.
