Indra Kumar's 'Dhammal' is a complete time pass entertainer which will tickle your funny bones. The movie is about four unemployed guys who stay together in a rented room for which they actually never pay any rent. The land lord finally kicks them out of the house. Unable to find descent jobs for themselves, the four try out different ways of earning money by cheating people. One fine day, while travelling on a highway, their vehicle collides with a car, injuring the man who was inside the car. The story takes a new twist when the dying man tells them about a huge amount of money hidden in a graveyard. But, Inspector Kabir Khan (Sanjay Dutt) grills the four guys and Manav (Javed Jhaffery), who is an idiot, vomits out the money secret . The entire movie thereafter, shows the four guys and Kabir Khan running after the money.

The movie has many hilarious scenes and situations which will make you roll. The best part is the introduction of four characters which builds an atmosphere of fun and sets the mood. The car break down scene scores full points and the graveyard scene is extremely funny. But some how, the continuous thread of humour is missing from the movie. At times it will make you laugh nonstop, and may a times it won't cater to your fun taste buds for quite a long period. The first half of the movie progresses with good number of sequences and queer situations. But, the post interval portion is not as good as the first half. However, the overall pace of the movie is just fine.

All the actors play their part well. The best performance was given by Javed Jaffery. It seems that acting skills are stuffed in his veins. Though, the role given to him was not as strong as other characters, yet he has done justice to it. He would have added a new spark in the movie had he been given a better role to play. Arshad Warsi (Adi) was outstanding as usual. He was just the perfect choice to act a cool and clever guy who pretends to know everything under the sun. Ritesh Deshmukh (Roy) also deserves appreciation. Better acting was expected from Ashish Choudhary (Boman) who is Mr. Scared in the movie. Sanjay Dutt, made his impact and presence felt in the movie.
Director Indira Kumar has done an exceptional job. He is back in form after the disastrous Pyaare Mohan. Vijay Arora's cinematography is good. The two songs (by Adnan Sami) at the beginning of the movie are interesting. The writer has tried to inject humour at many places but at times it looks forced. On the whole, 'Dhamaal' meets the expectations of audiences. It is a joyride which will leave you with a smile on your face at the end. It is not a comedy filled with vulgar one liners, but a clean family entertainer.
