Producer-director Harry Baweja's big budget Love Story 2050, also the launching pad for his son Harman, is a major disappointment of 2008. Harman got a lavish launch by his father for his debut movie, which was quite similar to that of Hrithik by Senior Roshan, 10 years back. Papa Harry Baweja has undoubtedly put in a lot of efforts into Love Story 2050, filling it with marvellous special effects, great costumes and happy to help robots. But, all the efforts and hardwork seem to went in vain, thanks to a fragile script and weak storyline. The only merit it carries is, Love Story.... is Bollywood's most elaborated sci fi film till date. And, a peep into future is its USP.

Love Story 2050 starts as an ordinary love story that revolves around two characters, Karan (Harman) and Sana (Priyanka Chopra). Karan is a rich boy and a loner. His father, played by Dilip Tahil, is a perfect businessman, who has no time for his 23 years old motherless son. Karan in search of love meets Sana, chases romance, sings and dances with her. But as most story goes, both get separated and then reunites.

The first half is devoted totally to the on-screen-cum-off-screen couple and certainly there is an overdose of love. 2050 appears only in the second half with flying cars, touch screen gadgets and skyscarpers. An accidental death of Priyanka in the first half makes us realize that the storyline is harebrained. Shattered Karan wants Sana back in life. The hero is sure that she will be reborn in 2050 and they will reunite. At the same time, Uncle Boman, who was experimenting with the time machine cracks the right formula and the time machine is finally made. Maama Bhanja then set out to meet Sana in the future. The series of scenes seem unplugged and hard to believe in.

And, when they finally discover Sana, she is already a famous pop singer- Ziesha. No one knows, how! She knows nothing about her past but gets attracted to Karan. The movie becomes a little interesting after this. But to know whether Sana and Karan will get back again, you guys need to spend a little- both time and money.

Harman looks confident as a debutant but his dialogue delivery is one area he really needs to work upon if he is dreaming to survive in the industry. His looks, performance, body language, dancing and dialogue delivery strongly resemble to those of Hrithik Roshan. And yes, he is an excellent dancer and has got a good screen presence. Priyanka Chopra has overacted but with perfect make up. She has been wasted in the movie, especially in the second half. Boman Irani as always has played his part perfectly. Archana Puran Singh as Priyanka's mom in her Punjabi ascent is charming.

Vijay Arora's cinematography is outstanding. The special effects are very fine. It's fun to watch flying cars, sci-fi high buildings and talking robots. Of them, QT (Cutie) and Boo, the two most helping robots are wonderful. It is the visuals effects that have made the film a little interesting, otherwise it's hard to sit through this three hour plus movie.

The script is below average and the storyline is senseless. There seems no connectivity between the two scenes. Many scenes are copied or we can say inspired by Hrithik-Priyanka starrer Krishh. For example the role of the masked villian is not required in the film and is similar to that of Naseeruddin Shah's character in Krishh. Also, the dialogues are irritating. Harman's favourite dialogue “ I don't need luck, I have love” is repeatedly used in the movie. Harry Baweja fails this time to impress his audience.

The music by Anu Malik is a mixed bag. The song “Milo Na Milo” is full of masti and has become the most popular song of the film. The other song “Mausam Achanak” is quite romantic and fits in the situation. The two songs “Aa Gaya Hun Main” and “Meelon Ka faasla” are just average. Next comes, Lover Boy. This song, written by Javed Akhtar is a little difficult to understand, but is the only song which makes us realize that we are not in 2008. Overall, the music of Love Story 2050 is worth a pair of ears.

In short, as the name suggests, Love Story 2050 has shown overdose of love but I am afraid if it would get the same amount of love from the viewers as well.
