Manorama Six Feet Under review'Manorama Six Feet Under' is a complex, offbeat thriller set in a small town of Rajasthan . Abhay Deol plays Satyaveer Singh, a junior engineer who is suspended from his job on suspicion of taking bribe. Gul Panag plays the role of his wife, who keeps nagging all the time. Satyaveer hasn't been able to succeed in his other passion, too, that is writing. His pulpy detective novel Manorama was a failure. In other words, life could not be more draggy for him. The movie introduces Sarika as a suspicious woman who's real identity is not revealed throughout. Vinay Pathak, who plays Satyaveer's brother-in-law, is a police inspector and often helps him in solving and escaping jumbled up situations.

Disappointed by his suspension from job, Satyaveer decides to become a detective and fortunately gets a case to handle very soon. He begins to experience the thrill of being a detective, when Sarika lands at his door steps with an unusual request and good amount of advance payment. Introducing herself as a minister's wife Manorama, she asks Satyaveer to spy on her husband. Sarika gives him a major clue before she is bumped of by goons. She tells him that her name is 'Manorama' and she is 32 years old. Incidentally, Manorama is also the name of Satyaveer's first crime novel. The actual investigation in the movie begins after Sarika's death under mysterious circumstances.

Manorama Six Feet Under reviewTThis movie begins with a lot of promise, but then falls into a trap which the director, Navdeep Singh, does not know how to escape from. With the sequence in the investigation of a crime leading from one scene to another, the director loses focus, thus complicating the narration. The end too is nothing short of a tragedy. In the sense, it falls short of the expectations of a crime thriller. The script has numerous loop holes and leaves you asking questions which remain unanswered till the end. While watching the movie, one can easily make out that scripting has been done by an amateur.

Abhay Deol's acting deserves appreciation, but his performance is not as striking as his earlier works like 'Ahista Ahista' and 'Ek Chalis Ki Last Local'. Vinay Pathak had no difficulty in adapting himself as per his character demanded. His acting was just perfect. Gul panag did her best and delivered good performance but her weak character in the movie did not give her chance to show different angles of her acting skills. Raima sen is alright and Sarika was hardly present in the movie.

Manorama Six Feet Under reviewGood lighting is a scoring effort of the director. The sets are close to real and the lighting is perfect which sets off the mood. Right from Abhay's home, to furnishing, to the clothes he and his wife wear are very real, befitting the salary of a government employee. Even the tiffs between the two are well shot. Cinematography and dialogues added a punch of thriller in the movie. The movie is well shot with a stunning visual impact. But, the director could have done a much better job. The plot was absolutely flat with no peak points or climax; as we call it.

The hallmarks of any thriller is that it should build the suspense, hold the attention to the point when the viewer begins to solve the mystery in the back of his mind and eagerly waits for it to get solved. Manorama Six feet Under has miserably failed to attract audiences who love solving mysteries. To sum up- the movie disappoints. The movie does not have many takers.
