 A powerful movie packed with action, emotions and great performance by all the actors. 'Shootout at Lokhandwala' is a fast paced movie very well written and superbly directed. The movie is based on the functioning of ATS (Anti Terrorist Squad), highlighting the encounter in Lokhandwala area in Mumbai. The ATS which is headed by Shasher Khan (Sanjay Dutt) while Kaviraj Patil (Sunil Shetty) and Javed Sheikh (Arbaaz Khan) are the police officers in his team. In just few months ATS undertakes many encounters and becomes a threat for the underworld. The ATS comes under the purview of inquiry after committing the longest encounter in Mumbai Police history in the crowded area of Lokhandwala to kill Maya (Viviek Oberoi), Bhua (Tusshar Kapoor) and others. Instead of being a sequential movie, the story of 'Shootout at Lokhandwala' has been narrated in a flashback. The ATS team of Sanjay Dutt, Sunil Shetty and Arbaaz Khan explains the encounters done by them and all of them try to justify their acts to the defence lawyer Dhingra (Amitabh Bachchan). There is a good balance of flashback and original scenes in the movie. The movie is full of powerful dialogues and there is no point when the movie gets dull. It is a complete entertainer and the biggest plus point of the movie is that it is made for both masses and classes. |

 The basic focus of the movie is Maya who takes the orders from his boss in Dubai and carries them in Mumbai. But there is a time when he distracts himself from the boss and falls prey to the ATS. The encounter of Maya and his accomplices is carried out in the residential area of Lokhandwala. The role of Maya is played very well by Viviek Oberoi, who has acted brilliantly in the movie and has showed that he fits into the role of a gangster better than anyone else. Sanjay Dutt has also performed well and fitted well in the role of a policeman. The role of Neha Dhupia and Aarti Chabbaria is short, which makes it clear that why Esha Deol and Urmila were reluctant to take up the roles earlier. Abhishek Bachchan also has a guest appearance in the movie. The movie was expected to start off well at the box-office due to the large star cast but after watching the movie it seems that the movie will continue to rock the box-office for coming few weeks. |

 The music in the movie is good, with two foot tapping numbers and the song 'Ganpat chal daru la.......' is really rocking the charts. Music of the movie has been composed by Mika, Anand Raj Anand, Biddu and Euphoria. So, we can praise Sanjay Gupta who has brought all of them together to compose the music of a single movie. The screenplay and the dialogues are well written and the movie gives the feel of reality unlike some of the other bollywood action flicks. The director Apoorva Lakhia deserves praise for making a perfect movie by combining the facts and adding masala to them. The movie has been made under the banner of White Feather Films which has produced films like Kaante, Musafir and Zinda. The movie has got a fresh breeze for movie lovers and it has been long that a movie has rocked the box office both at the rural and the urban. |
