Designers show their creativity in WOW
A dress made of jute
New Delhi: The Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) has been giving boastful platform to all new comers in the field of fashion and the World of Wearable Art Show and is well known name in the art of weird dressmaking. The FDCI organized the weird show on Friday to short list the fashion designers to represent India for the famous Montana World of Wearable Art in New Zealand. Eighteen young fashion designers participated in the show and their entries were short-listed from India. The WOW Jury in New Zealand will make the final selection. Two lucky designers will get a chance to show their collection and their creativity in New Zealand.

The announcement was made at the residence of the New Zealand High Commissioner Graeme Waters. New Zealand’s Trade Minister Phil Goff and Director General, FDCI Rathi Vinay Jha were also present in the art show. Two students, Narresh Kukreja and Shivan Bhatia, were awarded from NIFT Delhi had won the prestigious award in 2006 for their entry – the ‘Bee Hive Bra’ in the Bizarre Bra Category. The best part of this show is that no degree in designing is required; one has to be creative to participate.

The wings of metal
Students showed their weirdest imagination and creativity in the show. An auto rickshaw driver inspired one candidate while the other participant was bewitched by the bamboo and jute. Students showed that most beautiful dresses could be created from jute and bamboo. Appreciating the hard work and creativity of the participants Director General, FDCI Rathi Vinay Jha said, "A lot of effort has been put by these students and this has made me proud of them and I have also noticed that these students are very mature and creative. They have opened their mind to create art. We are not able to judge who is the best, but whosoever would be selected, would be selected purely depending on their art." "And if they would continue doing good work like this then Fashion Week is not far for them." she added.
The dress of Warrior
New Zealand’s Trade Minister Phil Goff said that the event made him very happy, as it was beneficial platform for India and New Zealand to come and work together. This would not only give business to India and New Zealand but will also take them to a new creative level. New Zealand High Commissioner Graeme Waters said, "All over the world, New Zealanders are known for innovation. The concept of World of Wearable Art is to allow participants from all over the world to take creativity to a completely different and exciting level." The event was very profitable for the new Indian designers and models as they showed their talents in the form of weird dress designing.

WOW awards are the best platform to launch them in the field of designing. "New Zealanders are crazy about Indian designs, festivals, customs and traditions." Graeme Waters added. The final result of the event would come in September where the selected designers would get a chance to perform in New Zealand with other designers from across the world.
