New Delhi: With the onset of festive season, designer Deepika Govind has launched her Diwali collection, the list of which is an ethnic range of lehngas, sarees, suits and kurtas. Concentrating on silk and maintaining the traditional Indian look, Deepika intends to bring about the spirit of Diwali through her novel designs. "The rustle of Indian silk and the strong, vibrant, earthy Indian tunes; the very presence of Indian textiles in my collection is the essence of this Diwali range," Deepika said while speaking to Headlines India. Referring to a golden lehnga from her collection, she said,"This golden lehnga is Muga silk. The lehnga is not dyed; it is the colour of yarn itself. I have done mix and match with this collection. The varied themes, colours and textiles I have used truly signify Diwali for me." |

Diwali has been the focus of her new collection. However, that has not made Deepika Govind forget her inherent DG feature - a touch of Indian tradition in all her designs.
"I have created a collection for my kind of people," Deepika said. "My kind of people are discerning, aware, making conscious choices and do not need government to empower them." "I have maintained Indian heritage in my designs. I know my clients and they always appreciate unique silk blended textiles. They are conscious of the Indian heritage. Through my designs, I have brought out Indian heritage in modern and contemporary way. I have used only Indian silk as I solely touch textiles that are manufactured in India," Deepika said. |

| DG diwali collection ranges from Rs 3,000 to Rs 50,000. The silk ingredients used in Deepika's festive hamper are Muga silk and Silk ikat, while also playing with embossed silk tissues, crepe de chine, touches of ancient brocade, and others. Keeping in mind the theme of festivity, mineral reds, midnight blues, antique gold, glass green and shades of aqua are used. |
