New Delhi: Emraan Hashmi, who is euphemistically called a 'serial kisser' for his kissing scenes in most of the movies, said in a press conference in New Delhi, "I wanted to overcome this image of myself of being a 'serial kisser'. I got sick of kissing on screen and being called as a serial kisser all the time, this is why I took a risk in 'Awarapan' by not kissing anyone. This film marks the second phase of my life and I am trying to do different roles than what I had done previously."
Awarapan, which deals with the serious issue of prostitution in Southeast Asia, portrays a Pakistani woman, which is played by newcomer Mrinalini Sharma. In the movie, she is trafficked to Hong Kong to become a mistress of a Hong Kong based gangster. Emraan Hashmi plays the role of the henchman of this gangster and saves the girl from the traffickers. The film, which was released on June 29, opened as a tepid but by the weekends picked up fast attracting considerable chunk of audiences. |
| Awarapan is marked as a first major overseas release for Emraan Hashmi. The film has been released in more than six countries and is doing good business in the US, UK and Dubai. He added, "We are trying our best to release this film in Pakistan and wish it conveys the message which we are trying to give in the film in a positive manner." |
|
| Emraan said that the movie would not have been a complete package sans Mustafa's music who gave a wonderful blend of Pakistani flavour. Emraan further said, "An actor is a puppet and he has to do what a director says or guides him to do. If the actor would start acting the way he feels he might end up spoiling the complete theme of the story". |
|
| Moreover, Emraan would be seen in two more movies, one with the Bhatt camp titled Jannat and the other is a sequel of Raaz. In this film Emraan would be playing the role of a ghost and in Jannat he plays a role of a bookie. The storyline in Jannat is all about betting in the world of cricket. |
