Rahat Fateh Ali Khan His Genesis
Rahat Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan was born in Faisalabad in Pakistan. Son of the respected singer Farroukh Fateh Ali Khan and the nephew of the legendary Qawwali singer Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, he has spent his childhood in a family that had music in its blood. He received his 'taamil' in music from his uncle. He was just a child of three when he submitted himself to music. By the age of 15 he turned out to be a professional singer as he formally joined his uncles musical troupe. After his uncle's death in the year1997, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan became the leader of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan's group and carried on with his great works and experimentations in the field of Sufi music.

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is renowned for his Qawwali songs which is a form of music its history dating back to 700 years. It has been made popular in the recent times in India by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, who has sung in many of the films and private albums. He has done total justice to Qawwali as he passionately performs the art. He goes on to say that "qawwali music is not only music, it is a message. It was created by Sufis, and when we compose and practice this music, it stays forever. Other music comes and goes, but qawwali never goes. My future is that one day I will fulfill the desire of Nusrat to give this message to the world”. He never failed to express his immense love for this form of music that has fostered the tradition and culture of the country since its emergence.
