Dalhousie is located in the western tip of the Dhauladhar range of the Himalayas in Himachal Pradesh.

The nearest airport is at a distance of 140-km at Gaggal (Kangra) from Dalhousie. While this captivating hill station is 80 km from the railway station at Pathankot.

History of Dalhousie:
India Dalhousie VacationDalhousie was established in 1853 by the British and was named after the first Governor General of the country, Lord Dalhousie. With its invigorating air, scenic delight and foliage of palms and oak, this place attracted the British. They brought the land from the Raja of Chamba and formed it into a sanatorium and hill resort. In 1853, Bakrota, Kathlog, Tehra and Portreyn were given to the British against a yearly payment to Chamba State of Rs 2000. It was in 1866 that the fifth plateau of Balun was taken for the cantonment. After Independence, Dalhousie slowly raised its status to a sedate hill station.

Khajjar
Khajjar is a quick getaway from Dalhousie that is located 27 km from Dhoudar. It was named after the 12th century golden vaulted temple of Khajinag. With its picturesque lakes, magnificent meadow and exotic architecture, it draw innumerous tourists from around the country.
