| Places to stay in Leh: |
|
| The hotels in Leh offer a fairly comfortable stay to those who are not looking for luxury. Most hotels are run by local families, so there is the added charm of personalized care and attention provided to you. These hotels also provide delicious food and clean accommodation. The Main Market area in Leh has most of the hotels in the city, though the village of Changspa, just a short walk from Leh, offers better accommodation to those looking for an idyllic retreat away from the noisy tourists at the crowded Main Market. The Shambha La Hotel is located 3 kilometers from the Leh Airport. The K-Star Palace has 40 guestrooms and many of them offer panoramic views of the Himalayas.

| How to reach Leh: |
| Air: Air travel to Leh is feasible only in the summer months since foggy conditions in North India make it difficult in winter. The Leh domestic airport is connected to Delhi, Chandigarh and Srinagar through regular flights.
Road: The Srinagar- Leh and Manali-Leh highways are the major roads connecting Leh to the rest of the country. The heavy snowfall in winters closes the Zoji La, Rohtang and Baracha La passes, making road travel in winters difficult.
Railways: You can take a train to Jammu, the nearest railhead. From Jammu, the only way to reach Leh is traveling by road. Railways have not reached Leh due to the difficult terrain.
