 The Golden temple was built to provide a common platform of worship for the Sikhs. It was constructed by the fifth Nanak of Sikhism, Guru Arjan Sahib. He designed the temple and planned the construction of the holy Sarovar that was later carried on by Guru Ramdas Sahib.
