History of Mathura:
MathuraMathura is believed to be the birthplace of the Hindu mythological god Krishna. The place is known for numerous anecdotes relating the childhood of Lord Krishna. The childhood deeds of Lord Krishna in the city of Mathura are explicitly stated in the Indian epic Mahabharata. Later on during the Mauryan regime several Buddhist monuments and architecture emerged under the supervision of King Asoka. The city is famous for its historical buildings that exemplify the architecture of the Mauryan dynasty, which explicitly reflect the denotative influence of Buddhism.

Dwarkadheesh Temple: It is a major temple of the city where the festivals like Holy and Diwali are celebrated with gusto and grandeur.

Gita Mandir: Rich architecture and the works of art engraved on the walls and ceilings of the temple make this place immensely popular with the tourists visiting Mathura.

Goverment Museum: It has a rare collection of the arts and artifacts belonging to the Gupta and Kushan period.
