Tribute to Rohit Khosla by Rohit Bal at Grand Finale
Wills Lifetyle India Fashion Week Event
Rohit Bal showcasing his designs
9 September: the grand finale of Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week, where Rohit Bal showed his collection was a tribute to the mentor of fashion in India- Rohit Khosla. A collection, which was inspired by the ancient city of Constantinople and the Byzantine design language, made a great impact on buyers and visitors mind. The characteristic blues of the glazed tiles, as they still can be admired in the Blue Mosque of Istanbul, were translated into a range of evening gown silhouettes with volume as well as classic sherwanis, richly embellished with arabesque motifs in all shades of turquoise, blue and silver. The presentation of the collection Siyaahi started with a colour range of ivory, ecru and sand chiffons, which were constructed into ensembles, pleated and draped with origami folds, cone shaped skirts, over-dimensioned puff sleeves and ballet inspired tutus. Huge leafy creepers in silver were all over the long skirts. Long overcoats and vest came in elaborate jacquards and richly embroidered silks. The menswear consisted mainly of sleek well constructed classic sherwanis with long slits which made the contrasting lining visible.

Dwelling on the designs, Rohit said, "My collection was inspired by the Iznic tiles of Turkey. The tiles that were made centuries ago and that are still being made and are very famous. The main colour of the collection was blue, which is the theme colour of those tiles." The whole collection was a collection of volume and a quotation of royalty. At the end of the show, which turned out to be the beginning, the designers- Rohit Gandhi, Rina Dhaka, Ranna Gil, Vijay Arora, Ritu Kumar, Rajesh Pratap Singh, Raghavendra Rathore, Puja Nayar, Varun Behl were few to walk on the ramp for Rohit.

Speaking with HeadlinesIndia after the show Rohit Gandhi said, "I love Rohit and apart from his collection, when he asked Rohit Khosla's parents walk on ramp was a great step being taken by him. Rohit has always been an angel and has help every person and this is what makes him different and the best."
