| Designers ELISHA W and Gauri Bajoria set day 3 |
|
7 September: The third day opened with 'VIVA DE GLAM' a collection by Elisha W and Gauri Bajoria's "Hiji Biji", which means haphazard. "My theme is inspired by life and presented through glamorous long flowing pleated dresses and gowns in powdery hues of turquoise, coral and aqua," said, Elisha W. The collection was crafted from luxurious fabrics such as chiffons, georgettes, cotton Lurex, elaborated by silver embroideries and sequined around bust area, hips and shoulders, leaving the hems of the dresses. Apart from single piece dresses, feminine long tops, which were worn over pants as well as jacket-pant, were also seen. And in combination to it swirling ornamental embroideries in gold and red were placed well across the shoulder area.
On talking about the cuts Elisha said, "The cuts and silhouettes are done in such a way so that they can show the sexy body structure of a woman as well as the waist line." The combination of neutral khaki colour with gradations of soft reds ranging from pink to rose and salmon, flowed by ombre dyed saris showed a decent colour scheme.
Designer Gauri gave a tough competition to her co-designer Elisha by showing a collection with a variety and mixture of styles and designs for Spring/Summer 2008. Candy colours muted alongside neutrals gave a sense of sophistication with playful feeling for a day wear. She highlighted the show by numerous techniques of drapes rushing, fluting, gathers and pleats by putting them together to match ready to wear clothing. A combination of soft lightweight knits with translucent woven fabrics was also shown. Crushed velvets and Lurex induced fabrics created a nostalgic illusion recalling the eighties era. Silk cocoon like embroidery all over fabric in metallic silver and delicate powdered tinted pales in gray, beige, blue, mint, yellow and lavender colours was an interesting texturing concept.
Continuing with the nostalgic mood was faded floral prints in dusty colours on skirts put together with draped knitted tops. The designer reveled her inspiration by saying, "I got inspired from the thoughts that in time translate and become memories and this what I have tried to show in my collection. Crystals like sequins in silver and multi colours are used to give a spark to muted shades of gray." In all Elisha and Gauri declared the woman to be a diva.
